New date: Sun March 10th noon-2pm
Add something special to your table by joining this special workshop on painted trays! Give new life to you wooden, tin, or silver serving trays.
Bring your favourite (but tired!) tray, or pick from a selection of recycled trays provided. You'll use Chalk Paint™ by Annie Sloan, plus waxes and other products to refresh your special treasure.
During this 2-hour session -- led by local furniture painter Louise Skabar of Paint-Er Up -- you'll learn the importance of preparing your tray for painting, understanding the use of brushes or rollers for variation of stroke results (smooth, rustic, chalky), applying waxes, creating a distressed look, the use of stencils (painting and cleaning), and incorporating a touch of pearl plaster. If you have not yet tried pearl plaster, you will be surprised at the vibrant pearly finish!!! For this workshop we will use the Buck Forest stencil by Royal Design as shown in the photos.
Cost is $40 plus tax, all supplies provided (bring your own favourite tray or select from our recycled ones for an additional $5).
Space is limited so please register early. A $25 non refundable deposit will be retained for late cancellations. Workshops are held at Malenka Originals, 1098-B Somerset Street West.
