The Introduction to Chalk Paint™ Digital Workshop is a collection of five video tutorials that provide a thorough introduction to Annie Sloan's paints and waxes, giving you the confidence and knowledge to start tackling your furniture painting projects, big and small. A great intro for those new to Chalk Paint™, or perfect for those who have painted before but need a refresher!
For only $25, you'll receive over 1.5 hours of instruction delivered straight to your email inbox, ready for download. Five workshops will guide you step-by-step, teaching you different techniques with loads of tips and tricks. Watch the videos at your own pace, in any order.
In this series, you will learn the following finishes:
- Two Colour Distress (25 min)
- Two Colour Wash (17 min)
- Modern Finish (26 min)
- Antique Finish (17 min)
- Dry Brushing (19 min)
This video series is based on the hugely popular in-person Introduction to Chalk Paint™ workshop taught by Katrina Barclay, the former owner of Malenka Originals in Ottawa, Canada.
MATERIALS:
This digital workshop uses materials you may already have at home, such as Chalk Paint™, wax and various brushes (see recommended materials list below). Simply purchase the digital workshop package and you're ready to go!
If you don't already have the necessary supplies, we've put together three different workshop kits to help you out. See the graphic boxes to the left for a full list of what's included in each kit. All workshop kits include the Introduction to Chalk Paint™ video series, plus extra savings on the materials!
"The Essentials" Digital Workshop Kit ($95, regularly $120): Enough paint and wax to do all 5 classes, plus a few other materials.
"The Essentials Plus" Digital Workshop Kit ($204, regularly $254): Enough materials to do the workshops, plus leftovers to work on more furniture projects.
"The Best of the Best" Digital Workshop Kit ($299, regularly $374): This kit gives you the top tools, plus lots of extra paint to work on several furniture projects.
Materials can be picked up at Malenka Originals or shipped to your home.
If using your own supplies, here's what we recommended you have on hand:
- Two or more colours of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint ™ (approx. 60ml of each colour will do)
- Small amount of Annie Sloan clear wax & black or dark wax
- One or two paint brushes (round or flat)
- Two wax brushes (or alternatively a roll of shop towel)
- Annie Sloan sanding pads or sheets of sandpaper (recommended 220, 400, and 600 grit)
- Shop towel or lint-free cloths to wipe with
- Five surfaces to paint on (e.g. pieces of baseboard, spare cabinets, picture frames, old drawer front, spare wood, etc.)

Once you have purchased the digital workshop, you will be e-mailed a link (usually within 15 minutes) to download the file. CHOOSING YOUR CHALK PAINT AND WAX COLOURS (FOR KITS):
Before checking out, please let us know in the notes section of your order if you have a preference of colours for your Chalk Paint™ and waxes and we will do our best to accommodate. If the notes section is left blank, we will select the colours for you.
